COVID Center Updates

March 9, 2023

Dear neighbors,

DC Health is closing all COVID Centers on Friday, March 31st. This decision comes as the District is experiencing a significant drop in COVID cases, high vaccination rates, and widespread availability of free vaccines and boosters.

Residents who want to stock up on free testing kits for at-home use can visit a COVID Center before the end of the month. You can also order free test kits by mail that will be delivered to your home. If you need an in-person test, you can locate a site here: https://testinglocator.cdc.gov/.

Free vaccines and boosters are available at pharmacies and through your healthcare provider, or you can find the site most convenient to you here: https://www.vaccines.gov/.

COVID Centers played a vital role in protecting public health. Front-line workers and everyone who helped to make the centers a success have earned our gratitude and respect. By working together, they provided:

  • More than 1,000,000 free masks;
  • More than 80,000 vaccines, boosters, and flu shots; and,
  • More than 440,000 free COVID testing kits.

The pandemic has not ended, but we are entering a new phase. Vigilance, self-care and supporting one another is as vital today as it was three years ago. I will continue to keep you updated on our response to the COVID pandemic and other healthcare issues.

In service,

Vince
