FY24 Budget: ✔

June 15, 2023

Dear neighbors,

This week, the D.C. Council approved the FY24 budget and related legislation. I am pleased to report that many projects and programs vital to Ward 7, healthcare, education, housing, and public safety are fully funded. Indeed, nearly all of the priorities we put forth in our budget request letter were met, the exception being the Streetcar extension (an important project that we will continue to advocate for).

You can dig deep into the details of the FY24 budget here; the Council's budget webpage is informative and easy to navigate.

As we move closer to the end of the school year and into the summer, I want to congratulate the students, families and educators who have completed another step in developing the young minds who will shape our world and, no doubt, continue our work to build a better future for everyone.

This is also a good time to remember that young children and teens need more of our assistance and guidance when school is in recess. Please don't hesitate to reach out to my office if you need help finding activities for young people or if you see a danger to public safety, in particular in or around parks, recreation centers or other places where young people spend time.

The African proverb, "It takes a village to raise a child," is timeless.

In service,

Vince
