Dear neighbors,

The Council has entered Performance & Oversight season. This is the time of the year when we convene hearings to review agencies and other entities within District government.

This month, the Committee on Hospital and Health Equity is holding hearings on Health and Human Services, the Department of Health Care Finance and the Not-for-Profit Hospital Corporation (more commonly known as United Medical Center).

I strongly encourage you to testify at these hearings. Your insight and input is essential to building a healthcare system that meets all our needs.

If you would like to testify or need more information on the process, please email my Legislative Analyst, Malcolm Cameron: mcameron@dccouncil.gov. We need to hear from you at least two days prior to the hearing so that we can formalize an agenda. Times and dates appear below.

I also encourage you to provide written testimony in advance of the hearing and, as well, people who are unable to attend may submit their testimony in writing. You may also submit testimony during the 10-day period after a hearing. It will be entered into the official record.

Thank you for being engaged in our community and the policy making process. Health is a very personal matter. We are better informed when we hear your voice and understand your perspective.
